If you’re like us, the idea of not being able to get outside to explore is difficult, but we’ve found that virtual travel is not only fun and exciting, it’s helping us see and understand places we’ve only dreamed about going. From the comfort of your couch you can explore the depths of Carlsbad Caverns and other national parks before “jetting off” to a virtual tour of the Louvre in Paris. Afterwards join an online cooking demonstration from a world-famous chef before sitting down to a breathtaking performance from New York City’s Metropolitan Opera. The world’s the limit — really. At the link in bio, find our list of 100+ fun things to do at home. #tlpicks courtesy of @bmseventh

Yet another place I would rather be quarantining! Who else is wishing they were cozied up in a cabin in the woods right about now? #tlpicks courtesy of @chrisroams

As we sit (responsibly) at home, most of us are probably looking for something to fill our extra time so we don’t go stir crazy. That could mean taking a virtual tour of museums or cultural sites around the globe, or it could mean taking an online class or two to pick up a new skill. Nikon is here to fill the latter with an online photography course. Best of all, it’s completely free. Nikon School Online is offering up its entire online photography course to help people learn about photography and fill a creative void. "While we aren’t able to travel right now, I’ve found myself with plenty of time to travel through the archives," photographer @bonnejournal captioned this photo (who can relate? 🙋‍♀️). "Porto is an incredible city, and dare I say my favourite in Portugal 😯 much like Lisbon the city is hilly and filled with beautifully tiled buildings. Those beautiful tiles Portugal is well known for are called azulejos and they’re used for both decoration and temperature control. Featured on the interior and exterior of buildings, they make for an eclectic mix of designs across the city." Get our Portugal travel guide at the link in bio. #tlpicks courtesy of @bonnejournal

Though summer is the most popular time to visit Paris, each season is compelling in its own way. And it's easy to see the allure of springtime in the City of Love. It may not be possible to experience spring in Paris this year, but it's never to early to start planning for next! Get our Paris guide at the link in bio. #tlpicks courtesy of @morganhizar

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games may have been postponed to next year, but you don’t have to wait until then to experience The Land of the Rising Sun. In fact, not only can you visit now, but you can do so without getting off your couch. The Japan National Tourism Organization created a 360-degree virtual tour of the country starring a famous cast that includes the Tokyo Tower, Kyoto’s Sagano Bamboo Forest, Nara Park, and the torii gates of Fushimi Inari Taisha, among others. Find out how you can take the virtual tour at the link in bio. #tlpicks courtesy of @wonguy974

Up next on places I would rather be quarantining: this traditional cabin in the Dutch countryside. Zaanse Schans is actually just a 30-minute drive from Amsterdam, making it an easy day trip. “The travel industry boils down to people — mom and pop businesses, small little shops — and that’s who we want to protect. And that’s what we do when we travel, we protect local economies,” she said. “Think local, and soon you’re going to be able to act global.” At the link in bio, Samantha Brown, host of the travel show "Places to Love," talks to T+L about COVID-19, future travel, and supporting local businesses. #tlpicks courtesy of @maryquincy

Tumpak Sewu is a seriously impressive waterfall on the island of Java in Indonesia (yes, there's more to Indonesia than Bali!). Semeru, an active volcano and the highest mountain in Java, towers above the falls, making for an otherworldly view. Want to add Java to your bucket list?
