The first and most important part of my morning routine is NOT yoga. 😬 (Hint: ☕️) It’s easy to loose motivation when we aren’t quite sure what day it is, and don’t have to get up and scurry out the door to get to the office (...or the yoga studio in my case). Did your self-care routine start out strong in quarantine, then took a nosedive? 😞 You’re not alone. The longer this has gone on the harder it is to accept that this is life as we know it right now. I don’t know about you but I’ve definitely looked for ways to numb this painful reality (🍷🍷🍷), but you know what...I feel SO MUCH better when I’m treating my body well and—this is key—STAYING ON A SCHEDULE! So, today I made a commitment...to literally put yoga classes on my calendar. 🗓 While in theory I’m doing more yoga than ever as I’m teaching 5 classes per week and demoing virtually (pun intended🤪🤦🏻♀️) every pose, it doesn’t have the same effect as taking a class. When I teach, my focus isn’t at all on me or my breath, it’s on my students.💞 That however inevitably makes the experience much less meditative. Believe me, I FREAKIN’ LOVE every minute of teaching, but it can be mentally (...and now physically) exhausting and leave me feeling depleted. So, I opened my Google calendar 👩🏻💻 and made sure I had at least 3 yoga classes on my books for next week to take. I kicked it off today at 9:30am with @ardencicada’s 🔥Core Yoga Flow🔥 live from Puerto Rico. Here’s a bit of her bombass flow in super-speed! I felt amazing after, and accomplished as it was only 10:30am and I’d already moved my body for an hour. 🏆 I’m revamping my online class schedule and will be sending out all the info to inboxes Sunday night. 📥🎉 I’m taking weekends off for the ⛱summer⛱ BUT you can still practice with me via my ✴️Weekend Warrior Recorded Class✴️ offering. You’ll have access to this week’s sequence from 8pm Friday (tomorrow!) until 8pm Sunday so you can practice as many times as you like.🤸🏻♀️ Link in profile to signup! 🤗 Not on my contact list? DM me your email address so you’re first to hear about schedule updates and special events! 🥳
If I had to name one of my worst qualities it would absolutely be... IMPATIENCE! ⏳ I am impatient AS HELL, so much so that it ruined my first experience in a yoga class. I wanted to be “good” at every pose...I mean, I was a gymnast for years after all so why did I completely suck at Crow? 🤬 Why was I terrified of Headstand? 🤬🤬 Why did I constantly lose my balance in Tree? 🤬🤬🤬 You know why??? I didn’t appreciate the process and I wanted “results” right away. To say our patience is being tested right now is an extreme understatement. All the signs of summer are here, but we must proceed with caution and take baby steps back to normalcy for our own safety. Sure I’d love to get on a plane tomorrow 🛫🙋🏻♀️, but right now it’s all about recovering and rebuilding (literally and figuratively). When I feel frazzled and frustrated I think back to my time in beautiful Bali.🌺 The Balinese people are notoriously calm and collected. Their bliss is almost immovable. As someone easily rattled, I was completely in awe of their gentle patience and appreciation for everything around them. Today I tried to take a virtual yoga class and ended up shutting my computer down midway through because I was so distracted by the sunshine beaming into my living room. Then I got upset that I didn’t have the discipline to do what I always tell my students to do...to stay focused and committed. We all are inevitably going to have days like this because we are human and have a breaking point, but these days will pass, and little by little we will find our roots again. 📸: @ohjackie
Traveling is NOT cancelled forever! ✈️👋 Yoga is like a vacation for the mind. 🧠🏖 I snapped this pic while leading a retreat in Tulum in 2017. It seemed like a mirage in the hazy sunshine. ✨✨✨ It’s easy to feel defeated right now, 😔especially if you’re a yoga teacher who either: A) Had a successful retreat business that was derailed by COVID-19 or B) Have always dreamed of leading your first retreat but feel like that’s out of the question indefinitely Our ability to “be present” is being tested now more than ever. I find it effortless to live in the moment when I’m frolicking on a beach in Mexico 🤸🏻♀️or laying poolside with a margarita in Miami🍹, but back home it’s incredibly challenging unless I’m on my mat...and now in quarantine, near impossible because the last thing I want to do is face our current reality. It’s sad because I feel like all the work I’ve done to live in the here and is sabotaged as I count down the days until we feel free again. 🧮 But you know what... I’ve decided I’m not going to let that stop me from keeping my focus and killing it doing what I love.💥 Moreover, I’ve made it my mission to help other yoga teachers stay on track as well. 💃🏻 Our dreams of leading retreats don’t have to be squashed forever, and in the meantime we can find innovative ways to start or keep our retreat biz in motion by tapping into our creativity. Why not offer a 🌴Retreat From Home🌴and give your students a taste of what it would be like to travel with you? Or, how about scoping the internet for your 💫dream💫 retreat destination and getting the wheels in motion to make that happen?! It’s not healthy to live for tomorrow because every moment is a precious gift. So I suggest we ⚡️STAY PRESENT⚡️, take our business by the ballz, and find solace in the fact that we WILL retreat again!

I was using hashtags WRONG for YEARS. 🤦🏻♀️ Insta algorithms bury our content. This sucks as an entrepreneur, but if we can’t beat them, how can we work around them? 🤷🏻♀️ Some🔥 #tips below from my 💣 business coach @iammelissaruiz that changed the game when it came to my page’s reach and engagement level. 💯‼️ I used to stress about how many followers I had and would get all bent out of shape when people unfollowed. 😫 Can you relate? Then I realized it’s not about quantity...QUALITY is key! 👌 I never paid followers and I’m proud that I built my business completely organically. That’s what social media was made for right?—genuine connection! 💞 When I stopped playing the comparison game and got savvy with my # use 👩🏻💻 I started to enjoy posting again, made so many amazing new relationships, and was able to start spreading the valuable knowledge I’ve learned not only through trainings, but trials and tribulations. This enabled me to help others: ✅ get their content seen ✅ boost their brand awareness ✅ and banish the IG burnout The beauty of this is it also helps us soulful entrepreneurs turn our passions into profits. 💸 Here are the 🔸TOP 3 TIPS🔸 I’ve learned about effective #-ing: 1) Don’t use the same hashtags on every post (The Gram will catch on and your visibility will plummet!👇) 2) If you have under 10K followers, don’t use hashtags with more than 150K followers (Learning this was a 🤯 moment, and once I started employing this strategy many of my posts went trending.) 3) Hide hashtags in a comment 👀 (It helps your caption shine, plus looks cleaner and more professional.) ✳️Want more? 2 days before snapping this photo I was emotional roadkill. 🚧 I know it’s collective, and that I am so lucky to be able to continue doing what I love when so many others out there are hurting, but I’ve haven’t felt this tenuous in years, as if at any moment I could be completely uprooted. 🌪 We can only bend so much before we break ⚠️, and last week I hit my breaking point. I literally felt like I couldn’t get out of bed and face another day confined to the 4 walls of my apartment talking to a computer screen. I felt mentally disheveled and truth be told, if I didn’t have a little getaway upstate on the horizon I probably would’ve had a complete breakdown. Unplugging is so essential, but staying plugged in is my only way to make a living right now and my outlet for human connection, something that literally fuels me every day. 🔁 It’s why I became a yoga teacher📿, and now more than ever it gives me the drive I need to carry on. So I had to make a choice... ➡️to either allow myself to continue to be steamrolled or ➡️to pick my damn self up and find a way to recharge my🔋so I could keep showing up for my students and move past the roadblocks of stress that have been cluttering my mind. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m highly sensitive. I used to see this as a flaw, but it’s the essence of who I am. The ability to empathize is a gift, but it can also make you feel depleted. 😞 The beauty of nature is a soul-balm that rejuvenates and soothes. Our environment has such a strong effect on our minds and bodies, and that effect is unprecedentedly profound right now. Not surprisingly, studies show that green spaces combat mental illness. I can’t articulate how cathartic stepping onto the dewy grass barefoot was this weekend. Nature heals🌿, and even just a couple days away from the paved city streets recalibrated my engine. Yoga/Fitness Pros, this is for YOU! 🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♀️ Studios and gyms may be ⛓closed⛓ indefinitely but you have so much to give and your students need you! Whether you’re... 👉 fresh out of teacher training and hungry to use all the skills you learned so you don’t lose them Or... 👉 an experienced teacher reluctant to show up online because it feels awkward teaching to a camera I want to help you! 💥 Real Talk: This is probably going to be our reality for a while 😞 so it’s time to take the reigns and turn your passion into profit. 🚀 I understand that it may feel weird accepting 💵 for your services right now because we are givers by nature, but we all worked our 🍑s off to hone our skills, and many of us sacrificed a lot to pursue our dream career. I left a 6-figure corporate gig to make $20 a class when I first became a yoga teacher 10 years ago 😳, and you know what...I NEVER LOOKED BACK ONCE! 💃🏻 All it took to make a sustainable living doing what I ❤️ was patience, perseverance, and a bit of business training. 👩🏻💻📚 If you feel stuck right now I have something 🚨BIG🚨 launching May 25th made for you! Without giving away too much, it’s basically a roadmap to making your online business boom so you can continue doing what feeds your soul. 🗺✨ (It’s also super affordable, because I know these are extremely challenging times for our wallets.) ⚡️Want to hear more?⚡️ 📲DM me your email address today! I’m only taking on 8 students MAX and 1 spot is already spoken for! Not for you but know someone who could benefit from this? TAG ‘EM below! 📷: @ljbnyc1

Why am I swooning hard right now?? 😊 Because of the outpouring of love and support in our yoga/fitness/wellness community. 💓 #Reposting this pic from @beccapace today. What she wrote literally brought me to tears. These were happy tears but tbh I cried a lot this weekend because the isolation is beginning to eat me alive. I started working on my playlist for the week and realized I was choosing all sad, somber songs. As I was writing my sequence it was filled with deep hip openers, which when combined with melancholy music ALWAYS make me cry. 😫 Then I stopped in my tracks and was like, “NO! I’m not doing this.” I scrapped everything and started from scratch. I chose upbeat tunes 🎶 and a peak pose that reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol, which can not only calm you in the short-term but could also help relieve minor depression and anxiety. 🤸🏻♀️ I’ll reveal that pose in my next post 😶 but for now I just want to thank all of the amazing students, teachers, family and friends who are lifting me up right now with your kind words of acknowledgement for what I’m trying to do—to deliver sunshine through my computer screen to yours through genuine connection. I was so touched by the outpouring of appreciation from all of the teachers who attended my webinar yesterday...so much so that I’m doing another one this Friday from 2:30-3:30pm EDT! Same as before, it’s all about launching and/or growing your online teaching business so you can make some income to help get you through these unprecedentedly challenging times. I’m literally SO excited to offer this again, and once it’s still completely FREE of charge! If you attended my webinar yesterday, I’d love if you’d comment below on what you got out of it. Also, please tag any fellow teachers who you think would find value in attending then next one. And, I’ll have even more tips to share the second time around, so if you want to tune in again, please let me know that too! #strongertogether (And thank you @nadjulik 💕 for this candid capture from our beautiful time together retreating in Mexico. We WILL retreat again!)
Wanna run your online yoga biz like a BOSS? 💣 I’ve got you! 💥 I’m Dina. 🙋🏻♀️ I quit my corporate job in 2010 and launched my yoga career fresh out of YTT. 🚀 Since then I’ve led retreats worldwide, lectured in teacher trainings, and mentored budding teachers helping them create a sustainable income stream doing what they ❤️. When I first started out I pounded the NYC pavement going from client to studio. I eventually figured out how to make 💵 in ways other ways, and crafted my dream schedule—7 classes a week Friday-Sunday off! That all changed on March 16. While on retreat in Mexico I found out I was unemployed 😣 and had to kick the hustle back into high gear. I’d never taught an online class and had no clue how to use Zoom, but I’m resourceful so I got my ass off my lounge chair downloaded the app 👩🏻💻, hit IG to let my students know I’d be going live, and led my first virtual class from my ocean-view balcony. I’ve been back home for 5 weeks and my online biz is keeping a roof over my head. I learned the hard way though, and I want to HELP YOU with the knowledge I’ve gained through trial and error. 👉Are you an unemployed yoga teacher trying to make rent? 👉Did you recently spend a ton of 💰 to get certified and feel frustrated that you can’t use and practice the skills you learned? 👉Do you feel totally awkward and uncomfortable teaching to a camera? Join my 🙌FREE🙌 webinar Monday, April 27 at 4pm EDT! I’ll spend an hour teaching the ins and outs of launching a viable online teaching biz on Zoom. Already teaching virtually? I’ll share some super helpful and time-saving tips/tricks to grow your audience. Know someone who could benefit from this? Tag ‘em‼️ 📷: @travc
Sakura (桜) – Japanese for “cherry blossom” and derived from saku (咲) which means to bloom, smile and laugh. 🌸 Trying hard today to remember how spring feels 😔 ...picnics in the park, rosé at a sidewalk cafe, sunbathing by the waterfront. My street is currently lined with beautiful trees bountiful with pink flowers. I see them swaying in the breeze from the confines of my couch and it makes me both sad and hopeful. This week’s peak pose is named after one of the most exotic flowers in nature (...you’ll have to take class for the reveal 😬). It symbolizes freedom, joy, and overcoming obstacles. I gave my students a homework assignment yesterday...buy yourself flowers. Many of us don’t have porches, backyards, or even a car to hop into to take a drive. The concrete jungle doesn’t at all provide the sense of peace and tranquility that a walk in the woods or a barefoot stroll on the beach does. So, if we can’t immerse ourselves in nature outdoors, at least we can bring a little bit of it in. 💐 📷: @truthandlovephotography

Summer is NOT cancelled‼️ I will be getting my 🍑 in the ☀️ by the 🌊 some way, some how. In the meantime, this week’s peak pose is a more challenging variation of the shape pictured in this snap. It’s called Toppling Tree (Patanvriksasana), in which you actually bend your standing leg, dipping your torso down at a diagonal, while lifting your other leg and clasped hands up. Can you picture it? 🤔 💭 Good news... You don’t have to! 😝 3 more chances to take class with me this week and test your mental and physical balance in this tricky, tilted pose! Peep my last post for class schedule and signup deets. 👙💕 📷: @ohjackie
What’s the one thing keeping me from truly losing my sh*t??!! (Hint: It’s not meditation, and it’s not🍷believe it or not...although I may be single-handedly keeping the corner liquor store in business. 🤭) It’s YOU! 🙌 Can’t believe it’s my 4th week teaching yoga from home. Thank you to my lovely student @nadjulik for snapping this pic of her big screen TV while practicing with me. 👋 Seeing your faces, even if only in a tiny box on my laptop, is truly keeping me sane. Thank you to everyone who has practiced with me these past few weeks for keeping me inspired and giving me a purpose for getting up each day. I’ve even been putting some makeup on lately in case you’re watching me in super HD. 😬 Humans thrive on connection. ♾ It’s a basic need, and right now we have to make an extra effort to not fall into the black hole of isolation.🕳 Brené Brown said: “Connection is why we’re here.
