The happy/ totally surprised face I made when I manage to get back on my hands again (a still from the video)! Almost exactly year after my shoulder injury & today I managed to hold a handstand!!! 🥳🤸‍♀️ It’s something to be celebrated Not because I did a handstand.. honestly not that fussed haha.. it’s something to be celebrated because I practiced absolute patience, I honoured my body, I healed, I listened, I respected, but I also didn’t give up and took the time to build up my strength where it was needed, to strengthen the areas & specific muscles needed to keep me safe in my body & not re-injure myself. And that is the disciplined, loving, respectful practice I wish to uphold in my yoga 🙏This may not seem a huge deal.. but for this hyper backbending bendy supple body of mine it’s a big deal and a huge ask to hold a handstand (without fall back into a wheel 🙈) so.. yes.. Follow @yogazoid 👈👈 - I’ve had a few people contacting me wanting to start yoga and one of the questions I get is “ there are so many styles of yoga it’s confusing, what style is best for me?”. . This is a great question! . First let me preface this by saying I highly recommend that you find a local studio if at all possible or a teacher. . . While I understand some people have limited resources it’s best to learn under the guidance of an experienced teacher. . . As for styles... ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Power yoga, Restorative, Forest yoga, yoga Nidra, kundalini... and the list goes on. . . 1. Do your research ...google and read A variety of different articles. Talk to anyone you know who does yoga. I highly urge everyone to have a curious mind and to try many different kinds of yoga, and this is key- don’t give up after your first class that you hate! 🤣 I took so many different kinds of yoga before settling into the two styles that I practice every day. . . Not only does it take a while to find the style that works for you and feels best for your body it can also take a while to find the teacher that is right for you. You may not like a particular teacher style that doesn’t mean that style of yoga is not right for you!! . . Decide if you want something that simply makes you feel good and relaxed. Or maybe it’s something that challenges you. . . And keep in mind that you may change your mind and you get to do that! Just because A close friend loves a particular style doesn’t mean it’s right for you either. .. Finally keep in mind that you may have an aversion to a class but it doesn’t mean it’s the wrong class... i’ve said this before but I spent the first year crying at the beginning and end of class as I begin to breathe and connect to my body in a whole different way. It wasn’t comfortable but I knew it was necessary. . . Find a teacher who makes you feel safe, included, and seen😊🤸‍♀️💖💖 - 📸 @lightfulyogini2.0

Another day... putting my feet up, drinking more tea and eating... (erm... constantly)☝🏼. . No one has the answers but you do know deep down - yourself, what YOU need to help you feel a lil better.... do that sweet friend 🙌🏼. Why would you ever not...?. . There's a lot of noise online & I'm suffering from a hesitancy to contribute to the hundreds of... be fit-be well-do this-think this... pieces of content. My page has always just been my own lil journey through life, journal style pockets of MY experiences or reflections mostly through the lens of living yoga. But chatting to friends yesterday I realised an obvious that can sometimes go unseen.... although I relay unhappy blips to a degree, mostly what I journal into my IG is the answers, the positive and the good. . But do you know what, that is OK. . I have boundaries, I don't post when I'm still only working things out and to go back to the aforementioned & expand - I reflect on my experiences - but.......... only once I've processed & can speak vulnerablely from an informed place of strength/stability. What's the point in regurgitating a sentiment without having distilled it for yourself. I suppose I wanted to share that in an effort to explain if you see gaps in days where I don't post..... I'm probably figuring things out! And this is perfectly wonderful because its truth. I could be crying into my chicken soup, spending the day on the couch, just know that everyone has to process life, there are no shortcuts & it's never always easy. So, I'll keep trucking, learning and growing and then sharing when I can, not for aclaim or popularity but to potentially inspire even one set of eyeballs to look into their hearts & begin their own journey too ❤️ Much love, Moons x. . I tried a new yoga pose! This is Elephant Trunk Pose, or Eka Hasta Bhujasana. I’d never done it before, so I don’t think it’s too terrible for my first attempt.
