𝟐 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 ⠀ ⠀ Let me make a bold guess about you. 🔮⠀ ⠀ Ready? ⠀ ⠀ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝟯𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. ⠀ ⠀ You’re like: 😏 Wait a minute. Why would I do that? What about all the other awesome 70% of myself? ⠀ ⠀ Well… 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 if this is your honest reaction - you have reached a great level of self confidence and I celebrate you for that!⠀ ⠀ However, it is more likely that your reaction looks like ⠀ ⠀ 🤭 Damn. She is actually right. ⠀ ⠀ That being said - let’s face the real brain twister⠀ ⠀ Why are we not showing our full selves? What is holding us back? ⠀ ⠀ All of the things holding us back can be narrowed down to main points:⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. ⠀ We are so scared of being rejected for being ourselves. ⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. ⠀ We are trying so hard to fit in and be like everyone else. ⠀ ⠀ Let’s unravel these points: ⠀ ⠀ 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. ⠀ If we are scared to be rejected by others, in reality, we have not yet fully accepted ourselves. ⠀ ⠀ 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. ⠀ By trying to fit in, we are hiding interesting parts of ourselves and thereby loosing our uniqueness. ⠀ ⠀ The points are connected in two ways⠀ ⠀ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲⠀ We are afraid to be rejected, because we don’t fit in.⠀ ⠀ But: fitting-in is an illusion. ⠀ ⠀ Fitting-in is defined by the group of society where you want to fit into. ⠀ There are many groups with different fitting-in standards.⠀ ⠀ The secret is - there are also groups where you fit in, without having to change. ⠀ And those are 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 groups. ⠀ ⠀ 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲⠀ We have the urge to fit in because we do not accept ourselves. We do not love ourselves. ⠀ We do not recognize the beauty in our uniqueness. ⠀ ⠀ If there was only one message that I would want you to take from this it would be ⠀ ⠀ 🦋 Show yourself. Explore those other 70% of yourself. And then share them with the world. ⠀ ⠀ We can’t wait for them to inspire us. We can’t wait to love them. ⠀ ⠀ We can’t wait for you to show us 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪. ⠀ ⠀ Step out there, girl. Show up. 🌟

Sometimes I’ll get an idea for a drawing and really fall in love with it. I’ll spend hours sketching, designing, redrawing, lining... only for the final product to come out looking horrible. It can be extremely discouraging at times, but it serves as a good reminder that nobody is perfect, we all have our bad days, even at things we are supposed to be good at. THINGS YOU CAN DO TO BOOST YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE (PART 1) - 🐣1.PRACTISE SELF COMPASSION: don’t be so hard on yourself when you make a mistake or experience failure-talking to yourself as if you’re actual trash will *not* motivate you to do better. Studies show that self compassion contributes to more consistent confidence. Try “everyone messes up sometimes, its ok” vs “I’m so stupid fml why did I even try”. Cut yourself some slack, no one is perfect. Talk to yourself the way you’d speak to your best friend. 🐣2.EMBRACE SELF DOUBT; you know that thing you keep putting off till you’re totally ready or feel more confident? Just do it!!! Sometimes the best way to gain confidence is by just going for it. Practice facing the fears that stem from a lack of self confidence. Aka if you’re afraid you’ll embarrass yourself or think you’re going to mess up- try it anyway! You may surprise yourself. And knowing you went for it will boost your confidence- telling you from personal experience-it works! 🐣3.CHALLENGE YOUR OWN THOUGHTS; when your brain tells you you’re too out of shape to work out or shouldn’t speak up- challenge yourself. Your thoughts aren’t always accurate. Who said you’re “too out of shape” what is that anyway? Who said your opinion isn’t valid or worth hearing? Try doing the things your brain tells you you can’t - each time you move forward, you’ll gain more confidence in yourself! - when you believe in yourself, you’re more willing to try new things- rather than wasting your energy on worrying whether you’re good enough- you’ll devote more energy to whatever you’re trying to achieve. confidence impacts EVERYTHING in your life. The way you communicate, your well being, how successful you are, your relationships-the list goes onnnn - How important do you think self confidence is? I have a quite unpopular opinion...😬⁣ ⁣ I say this with the most respect and admiration for every person who takes a chance on themselves and puts themselves out there on social media.⁣ ⁣ I know how hard it is to get started in this space and try to figure out the nuances of organizing and having a cohesive grid. Or how to take your own photos...you know...that DON’T look like the photos you took with a disposable camera in junior high.🤦🏻‍♀️⁣ ⁣ Okay, here it is: I am not a fan of stock photography on your IG account. Please, don’t hurt me 😖 ⁣ ⁣ Look, I meant what I said in my last post. Stock photography is okay if you use it 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘺. But here's the truth: I've come across several feeds that have used the same stock photos.⁣ ⁣ This is what you need to ask yourself: What differentiates you from every one else? If there's more than one account posting the same stock photo what do you think people will think when then pop onto your page? •This person doesn't have a lot of time to create their own content. ⁣ ⁣ •They don't know how to create content. ⁣ ⁣ •I'm not sure who this person is. ⁣ ⁣ These statements scream novice. ⁣ ⁣ This space is all about showing your authenticity, your uniqueness, but most importantly your 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲. It's possible to brand your social media in a way that stands out and makes an impact, without having to overuse stock photos. Give yourself the credit that you deserve and give yourself a chance to explore the creative process and see what YOU are made of. Social media is your canvas and you've got the paint brush. Moments of weakness and self doubt happen to all of us. Don’t let that voice inside your head tell you differently. This last weekend was that for me. • Diet and exercise are important things to work on and grow, but if I’m being honest one of the more important things I’ve been trying to develop is allowing myself forgiveness and grace. • If I can accept that I’m not perfect, that one bad meal or missed workout doesn’t mean a failed week...I’ll be that much better at jumping back up and working on those goals. • One off day is better than three off days because you said screw it and gave up. Self-pity is destructive. • When you are feeling frustrated or like you failed, regroup and forgive yourself. Take the time you need to acknowledge those feelings and then move on. • Grace has been the biggest difference for me in seeing consistent growth versus short term successes. .
