What’s the one thing you’re in control of right now?! • The beginning of this week I was in a weird place. This whole quarantine really got to me. I wasn’t as motivate or excited about anything. (I’m excited all the time LOL) • I started to ask myself: How am I going to survive? How will I be able to afford anything? How will I be able to buy my own place? When will we able to go out? ..... Many more questions appear. • Then I realized, I can’t stress about it & just do my best. The only thing I can control is exercising.⚡️ • My workout saved me from going into a dark hole of questions. Hey👋 How are your home workouts going?⁣ ⁣ I’ve chatted with a lot of you who are struggling this week. On top of the lack of motivation, distractions, and limited equipment, you’re feeling overwhelmed with the numerous home workout variations plastered across your feed. ⁣ ⁣ Just a few quick things: ⁣ ⁣ 🔹your workouts do not need to change drastically. I know it can feel confusing, with all the many complex and wildly different workouts out there right now, but honestly, your “home workout” can be structured pretty much exactly the same as your gym workouts. Instead of over complicating it, keep it simple by maintaining similar programming and adjusting to suit the equipment you have on hand. You don’t need to do pseudo “HIIT” workouts or jump all over the place. In fact- you likely have tight muscles for sitting all day, so you probably want to be kind to your body and avoid too much of that anyways. ⁣ ⁣ 🔹take the pressure off of yourself right now. You don’t have to expect your living room workouts to match the intensity of your weight room workouts- in fact, you SHOULDN’T because chances are, they won’t. And that’s 100% okay. Your goals can shift to reflect this season and you can lower your expectations accordingly.⁣ ⁣ 🔹recognize that you’re likely to be more exhausted, have overall less energy, and feel weaker than usual right now. We’re currently living through a pandemic- and regardless of your situation, you’re probably experiencing higher stress and anxiety and feeling drained physically and emotionally. Despite what you may be seeing from other fitness professionals, it’s probably NOT the time to set intense physique and exercise goals. We already have to give up control- and without all the external bullshit, we’ve been forced to tune into our bodies more. This is a really wonderful time to learn how to intuit what your body needs. Strict diets and extreme workout regimens do not have a place in a worldwide pandemic- kindness and compassion towards yourself and your body do.⁣ ⁣ I know this is hard to navigate and all your fears, your insecurities, your struggles are valid. Throughout college, especially, I struggled with spending mass amounts of money on clothes and shoes and anything to fill this hole that said I needed to keep up with everyone else. I poured my paychecks into getting the designer stuff my roommates had and just thinking about it brings me right back to sleepless nights wondering how I was going to pay for my metro card and how I could hide my spending from my parents. Being quarantined at home seeing people shop for fun cozy looks or recommending the best slippers has triggered some of those thoughts that if I just bought a couple new outfits I would feel a little bit better. I feel pretty glad I’ve had a lot of therapy and a really honest partner (@richardromanjr I’m lookin at you beb) that have helped me push past this thinking. But it was still nice to get this set from @fabletics and snap on my ponytail and go outside to breakup the days of wearing pajamas and acne cream on my sofa. Don’t feel the need to buy stuff right now, or post your quarantine fashion, or put pressure when you don’t need to. Pajamas and acne cream are honestly amazing and highly recommend. #FableticsPartner @fabletics

At the end of every month, I take a few minutes to self reflect. I ask myself a few simple questions: What did I do well this month? What could I improve on? Did I accomplish everything I wanted to? Why or why not? Then I create a goal for the next month and build a plan to get there. The goal doesn’t have to be big and the plan doesn’t have to be detailed. In April, Grant and I are pressing the reset button on our workout routine and nutrition. We’ve come up with a few simple guidelines to get ourselves to our goal - More details will be on my youtube channel! Link is always in my bio. I highly suggest taking this time at the end of the month - you’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish though self reflection!
