Have you been to Bali? I would love to know what you think about it x I have been going every year now for nearly 30 years but 2019 was the first year I didn't visit. It's changed .... boy has it changed. Açai bowls, matcha lattes, beach clubs, $20 cocktails, designer clothes boutiques and Instagrammable villas and breakfasts and I am just about going to die if I see another picture of a Bali swing ! I love it all but I am still coming to terms with the fact that I am seeing all this in Bali . I prefer the old Bali charm. I miss the days when I would be eating Nasi Goreng for breakfast lunch and dinner, sitting on the side of the road eating grilled corn with the local guy serving it from a cart . I miss paying $10 for a driver or motorbike rider to take me around all day. I miss the quiet deserted beaches and cool surf spots where there was nothing there but a shack to get a Bintang and a toasted jaffle (when you know you know). Then you would end the day with a $5 beach massage from a little old local lady who would douse you in oil, redefine what a deep tissue massage was and then sell you a sarong that you didn't need. If you have a Bali story share below. If you are Australian, I am sure you do ! Bali I will be back ...

You guys ask me all the time what is my favourite villa in the Maldives. I've been ducking and weaving from giving you a straight answer because I truly have different favourites for different reasons. This huge two storey overwater villa at Soneva Jani is exceptional and hard to beat anywhere in the world. I can say that with some street cred as I have stayed in so many beautiful places. I still remember lying in bed, when I grabbed the remote thinking it was going to close the blinds. Instead the whole roof slid open and I spent the night staring up at a sky full of stars. In the morning I woke up to a perfect sunrise, made a coffee and plonked myself on the sunken lounge here, feeling quite lost for words. I then jumped on my bamboo bicycle and peddled my way to the overwater restaurant for a breakfast fit for a king. And this is all technically before I even started my day, which only got better. And yes, this is one of those overwater villas with its own slippery slide (the one in my Stories the other day). Insane.
